The Kidde KC2-RB4 is a 4-inch relay base for the Kidde KC2 Series two-wire conventional smoke detectors. Specifically, it provides one Form C relay that changes state when the connected KC2 detector enters alarm. As a result, the relay can drive auxiliary equipment such as HVAC shutdown or door release.
In addition, the base includes a trim skirt that conceals the mounting tabs. Therefore, the finished installation looks clean on the ceiling.

Installation
First, wire the base to the conventional detector circuit at TB1 and TB2. Then, wire the relay-controlled load to TB3. Furthermore, snap the matching KC2 series detector head onto the base. As a result, the detector’s alarm state drives the relay automatically.
