The Kidde KI-COD is an intelligent analog-addressable carbon monoxide sensor for the Kidde Intelligent loop. Specifically, it uses an electrochemical CO sensor calibrated to UL 2034 sensitivity. As a result, the panel receives both alarm and trouble status for a single addressable point.
Furthermore, the CO sensor is factory-calibrated and cannot be adjusted in the field. Then, the panel reports a four-pulse temporal code (TC4) for CO alarms, distinct from the three-pulse temporal code (TC3) used for fire.
How the Kidde KI-COD Works
The detector plugs into a Kidde Intelligent base. In addition, the loop controller assigns the device address — no DIP switches are required. As a result, replacement is a head swap, not a re-program.
Also, the detector must be paired with a UL Listed control panel that can differentiate fire, burglary, and CO alarm signals. However, the panel itself — not the detector — drives the audible notification per code.
