Notifier HS-NCM-MFSF High-Speed Network Communications Module
The Notifier HS-NCM-MFSF is a High-Speed Network Communications Module with two fiber-optic ports. Specifically, it provides one multimode fiber port and one single-mode fiber port. As a result, it links nodes that use different fiber media on one board. It connects compatible Notifier nodes to High-Speed NOTI•FIRE•NET (NFN).
This module connects panels such as the NFS-320, NFS-640, NFS2-640, NFS-3030, and NFS2-3030. In addition, it connects NCA and NCA-2 Network Control Annunciators and the DVC Digital Voice Command. Furthermore, each HS-NCM can carry up to two node addresses on a single board.
How the Notifier HS-NCM-MFSF works
The module transmits at 100 Mb baud over fiber. Furthermore, data is regenerated at every node, and optical isolation eliminates ground loops. In addition, two network ports connect the panel and a programming computer at once. When not connected to a panel, the module defaults to repeater mode.
The mixed-media design bridges fiber types across a run. For example, a multimode segment can transition to single-mode for a longer span. As a result, the single-mode port carries the network farther between buildings. Also, fiber must exit Port A's TX on one node, then enter Port B's RX on the next.
