The Edwards 1B3-125 is a 125-watt audio power amplifier for fire alarm voice and audio systems. It drives speaker circuits during an emergency.
The amplifier delivers 125 watts of continuous (RMS) power. In addition, it supports both 25 V and 70 V speaker outputs. As a result, it adapts to many distributed audio layouts.
Edwards 1B3-125 Design
The unit mounts in a standard 19-inch rack. Also, it includes circuitry for 24 VDC battery backup. Therefore audio output can continue during a primary power loss.
Built-in protection guards the amplifier in service. Specifically, an electronic circuit handles overloads and shorted outputs. A thermal overload circuit then opens power if the unit overheats. Both protection circuits are self-restoring.
