Mircom FS-400-RR Red Wall-Mount LED Strobe
The Mircom FS-400-RR is a red wall-mount LED strobe for indoor fire alarm notification. First, it draws low current thanks to its LED light source. As a result, more devices fit on a single NAC circuit. Therefore, fewer external power supplies are needed.
Field-selectable candela settings are 15, 15/75, 30, 75, 110, and 185 cd. Specifically, the current setting shows through the front window for quick verification. In addition, the candela switch lives on the back of the unit. Therefore tampering is much harder.
Mircom FS-400-RR power and sync
The strobe runs on 24 VDC regulated or 24 VFWR. The operating RMS voltage range is 16 to 33 V. Also, the unit accepts 22 to 12 AWG wire. Current draw varies by candela and power type.
At 24 VDC regulated, the 15 cd setting draws 25 mA. The 185 cd setting draws 179 mA. However, 24 VFWR draws more — up to 241 mA at 185 cd. As a result, NAC calculations should use the candela actually selected.
For coordinated flashing, the FS-400-RR syncs via the Mircom sync protocol on the panel. Alternatively, it pairs with the SDM-240 synchronization module. In addition, a shorting clip ships in the box for pre-install wire testing.
Mounting and listings
The strobe ships with a universal mounting plate. It mounts to single-gang, double-gang, 4″ square, octagon, or 4″ junction boxes. Also, it accepts the Mircom BB-400R surface back box. Finally, the unit attaches to the plate with a single screw.
The FS-400-RR is listed to UL 1971, UL 1638, and ULC-S526. Furthermore it meets NFPA 72 2016 edition. The unit is for indoor use only. Operating temperature is 32 °F to 122 °F (0 °C to 50 °C).
