The Kidde KIR-OSD is an intelligent optical (photoelectric) smoke detector with rotary addressing. Specifically, it connects to the Kidde FX-64 or FX-1000 intelligent fire alarm panel SLC loop. As a result, the panel reports smoke events by precise device address.
In addition, the KIR-OSD uses photoelectric light-scattering smoke sensing. Therefore, it responds well to slow smoldering fires that produce larger smoke particles.
Kidde KIR-OSD application
First, install the detector on a matching KI-SB standard base or KI-RB4 relay base. Then, set the device address with the rotary switches. As a result, the panel auto-maps the detector during configuration.
Furthermore, the KIR-OSD pairs with companion KIR-COD carbon monoxide detectors and KIR-OSCD multisensor smoke/CO units on the same loop. Therefore, one SLC can carry mixed detection types.
Compatibility
The KIR-OSD works only with Kidde Intelligent Loop control panels (FX-64 / FX-1000). Therefore, it is not interchangeable with conventional KC2 detectors or non-Kidde intelligent loops.
