The Siemens NIM-1W is a network interface module for Siemens MXL fire alarm systems, part number 500-699103. Specifically, it serves as the local and wide-area network interface for the MXL X-NET communication bridge. As a result, it lets MXL panels share system information across long distances.
The NIM-1W occupies one full slot in a Model MOM series card cage. There, it communicates directly with the MXL panel through the Model NIM-1R interface module. In addition, it accepts the optional NIM-1M analog modem daughter board. Together, the NIM-1W and NIM-1M form a long-distance communication bridge between MXL panels or networks.
