The Siemens CAB2-BB is the back box for the mid-sized FireFinder XLS two-row enclosure. Specifically, it is the black field-mounted back box, part number 500-633009. Furthermore, it forms the structural shell that paired inner and outer doors (CAB2-BD or CAB2-RD) mount onto. In addition, it accepts standard XLS mounting hardware for cards, modules, and battery backup.
The complete CAB2 enclosure houses up to two CAB-MP cabinet mounting plates. As a result, an installer can mount card cages, power supplies, and bulk amplifiers in two rows. Approximate outer dimensions are 45″ high × 26″ wide × 8″ deep (114.3 × 66 × 20.3 cm).
What the Siemens CAB2-BB ships with
Every XLS back box includes ground straps for the inner and outer doors. In addition, it carries shield termination lugs and grounding lugs. Furthermore, tie-wrap lances inside the box keep wiring dressed. Also, the back box can hold system backup batteries up to 31 Ah capacity.
Note: the CAB2-BB is the back box only. Specifically, doors (CAB2-BD black or CAB2-RD red) are ordered separately. Also, the outer door uses a single lock and key set. For a red back-box variant, order CAB2-RB (500-634941) instead.
Inner-door and outer-door layout
The inner door has two rows of four mounting slots. As a result, multiple ID-MP plates, switch modules, and a Person Machine Interface fit on one door. The outer door supports two outer-door plates — OD-LP lens, OD-BP blank, or OD-GP grill. Furthermore, the outer door can be configured to swing from either side.
For semi-flush installation, order the matching trim kit. Specifically, CAB2-TK fits the black box and CAB2R-TK fits the red box. In addition, a transponder-only door (CAB2-XBD black, CAB2-XRD red) is available for remote-transponder installations that omit the inner door.

FireFinder XLS enclosures are UL 864 9th Edition Listed and ULC Listed. In addition, they carry FM (#3010), CSFM (#7165-0067:0222), and NYCFD (#6160) approvals. As a result, the CAB2-BB meets the major North American AHJ requirements.
