The Simplex 4098-5680 is a 5-inch 2-wire smoke detector base with an integral auxiliary alarm relay. First, the base seats a compatible 2-wire conventional smoke head. Then, the on-board relay actuates on alarm. As a result, the base drives an auxiliary device alongside the alarm signal.
Simplex 4098-5680 Relay and Wiring
The base provides one Form C contact set. Specifically, the contact rating is 3 A at 28 VDC or 115 VAC, resistive. In addition, the base supports a remote LED indicator connection. Furthermore, the base must be the only device on the initiating device circuit (IDC) so that the relay can operate correctly.
Application Pattern
Use the 4098-5680 where a conventional smoke head needs a local relay output. Then, drive small loads such as door holders, fan shutdown contactors, or auxiliary annunciators. As a result, a single 2-wire IDC handles both detection and the local relay action.
