The Space Age SSU01689 is the black-and-white SRD System Record Documents enclosure with a CAT 30 high-security lock. First, mount it beside the fire alarm control unit. Then load the system documentation and the integrated 4 GB USB memory drive. As a result, fire alarm records stay secure and accessible in lobbies, schools, and other high-traffic public spaces where a red box draws unwanted attention.

When to specify the SSU01689 over the red SRD

The standard red SRD (SSU00689) is the public-safety default. However, in lobbies, healthcare corridors, and education environments, facility managers often request a finish that blends with the building palette. Therefore, the SSU01689 ships in black-and-white with the same lettering — but with a higher-security CAT 30 keyed lock instead of the standard 3/4 in. barrel lock.

NFPA 72 compliance context

NFPA 72 Section 7.7.2.4 requires that installed software and firmware version numbers be maintained at the fire alarm control unit. In addition, most AHJs request inspection records at the time of inspection. As a result, the SRD satisfies both requirements with one purpose-built container.

What goes in the SRD

First, the as-built drawings and device address schedule. Then current inspection and test reports. Next, software and firmware version logs, AHJ correspondence, and panel configuration backups on the USB drive. Therefore, the full system history is available at the panel.
