The STI SS2408XT-EN is a blue, no-cover, pneumatic, illuminated Stopper Station with an “EXIT” label in English. First, an occupant presses the illuminated push button. Then the integrated pneumatic timer holds the contact state for a programmed delay before automatically resetting. As a result, the connected access-control or door-release system processes the egress request with no electrical reset signal required.
What the STI SS2408XT-EN is built for
Delayed-egress doors and access-controlled exits need an occupant-initiated request the controller can recognize. However, a momentary contact resets the instant the occupant lets go — too short for many door controllers. Therefore, the SS2408XT-EN uses an adjustable pneumatic timer to hold the switch state for a programmed interval, then return to standby without consuming power for the timing function.

Where SS2408XT-EN fits in the SS2408 family
The SS2408 base is the blue, no-cover, pneumatic-timer platform. Specifically, the XT suffix means EXIT; EX is EMERGENCY EXIT; PX is PUSH TO EXIT. Furthermore, the SS2428XT-EN sibling adds an indoor flush-or-surface cover (vs. no cover) for installations where vandalism is a concern. As a result, the SS2408XT-EN is the cover-less, blue, pneumatic EXIT variant.
Why pneumatic vs. electrical reset
Pneumatic-timer Stopper Stations need no electricity for the timing function. In addition, the field-adjustable timer lets installers tune the hold interval to the door controller. Alternatively, the SS2X09 turn-to-reset stations require physical operator rotation to clear; specify those when manual reset is desired. Furthermore, key-to-reset variants latch until an authorized operator unlocks them.
Application context
Access-controlled egress in retail, healthcare, and managed entries is the typical use case. However, the SS2408XT-EN ships without a protective cover — for high-traffic or public-access installations, specify the SS2428XT-EN with the universal indoor cover. Also, this station is not a fire alarm pull station and is not UL Listed for fire alarm initiating-device service.
