The Edwards 4-PPS/M is a switch-mode primary power supply module for the EST3 and EST4 life safety platforms. First, it combines a power supply unit with an integral local rail monitor module. As a result, it delivers regulated system power and reports diagnostics to the control panel.
Edwards 4-PPS/M power output
A single 4-PPS/M provides 7 amps of regulated output. In addition, it supplies two 3.5-amp power-limited auxiliary outputs. Furthermore, the module accepts either 120 or 240 VAC input power. Therefore, it adapts to most commercial building services.
You can also scale the system as loads grow. Specifically, up to four supplies combine for as much as 28 amps. As a result, large campuses gain ample power headroom for connected modules.
Local rail module and monitoring
The 4-PPS/M uses two assemblies: a PSU mainboard and a MON monitor module. Then the MON module distributes power across the local rail architecture. Also, it handles communication and diagnostics between the supply and the panel.
Important compatibility note
Do not install the 4-PPS/M in a cabinet with legacy supplies. Specifically, avoid pairing it with the 3-PPS/M, 3-BPS/M, or 3-BBC/M. Otherwise, mixing generations can damage the power supply.
