The ESL 449CRT is a legacy photoelectric smoke detector from the ESL 429/449 Series. It uses the light-scattering principle to sense visible combustion particles. As a result, it gives early warning of slow, smoldering fires.

The 449CRT is a spot-type detector built to legacy ESL specifications. The 429/449 Series detectors are self-diagnostic. Therefore, they monitor their own status during normal operation. This model also pairs with standard detector bases used in ESL installations.

Approved Replacement
ESL no longer manufactures the 449CRT. However, the approved replacement is the ESL 541NCRXT. That detector is a 4-wire photoelectric smoke and heat detector with an auxiliary relay. As a result, it carries forward the key functions of the 449CRT.
