The Siemens fireman’s master telephone, Model FMT (part# 500-034100), gives firefighters an emergency phone system. It connects the fire command center with remote telephone stations throughout a building. Specifically, the FMT serves Siemens FireFinder XLS, Desigo Fire Safety Modular, and Cerberus PRO Modular systems. The module includes a handset, a push-to-talk button, and diagnostic LEDs.
Audio quality holds up under load. In fact, the master telephone and at least five remote stations can be off hook simultaneously. As a result, audio quality does not degrade during a busy emergency response.
How the Siemens fireman’s master telephone works
The FMT mounts to the rear of the inner door of a CAB-1, CAB-2, CAB-3, or REMBOX4 enclosure. It communicates as a CAN bus node and is supervised by the DAC-NET card. Furthermore, each FMT takes one of the 99 DAC-NET sub-module (CAN) addresses. Telephone zone call-ins annunciate on the matching SCM-8 switch module.
Remote callers hear an Acknowledge tone while their call-in waits to be answered. However, they hear a Busy tone if another telephone zone already holds the line. In addition, the primary FMT supervises the telephone riser. For Class A riser wiring, add the FMT-A-ADPT adapter (part# 500-050338). The FMT also supports a warden’s page function.
