The Kidde VM-ETH1 Ethernet adapter card adds a standard 10/100 Base-T network connection to a VM Series fire alarm panel. As a result, technicians program and diagnose the panel remotely.

Specifically, the VM-ETH1 plugs into the VM-CPU main board. Then, the panel connects to a standard Cat 5 or Cat 5e cable via an RJ-45 jack. In addition, the card auto-negotiates 10 or 100 Mbps link speed.

The VM-ETH1 is the base-tier Ethernet option for the VM platform. For digital alarm receiver (IP-DACT) support, order VM-ETH2 instead. Furthermore, VM-ETH3 adds email and SMS text alerts on top of those features.

First, pick VM-ETH1 for basic programming and diagnostics. Then, choose VM-ETH2 if a compatible IP digital alarm receiver is in the design. Alternatively, choose VM-ETH3 when central station plus email and SMS notifications are required. Each VM-CPU supports one of the three.
