Operation takes two deliberate steps. First, the user operates the push-in tab. Then, the pull-down lever becomes accessible. When pulled, the lever locks in position and releases a spring-loaded contact switch. As a result, the alarm circuit activates and the station shows visible evidence of operation.

Compatibility
The MS-501 contains one normally open contact for Siemens Fire Safety low-voltage systems. However, MS Series boxes can also connect to existing fire alarm systems from other manufacturers. Therefore, it suits conventional initiating circuits rather than addressable loops. Optional accessories include a 24V alarm indicating lamp and a key-operated N.O. SPST switch.
Resetting
After activation, the lever stays locked in the down position. To reset, open the hinged cover with an Allen key. Then, close and lock the body to the backplate. Finally, restore the fire alarm panel per the system instructions.
