The Mircom TX3-IP-256 is an IP gateway that bridges RS-485 TX3 devices to an Ethernet network. It is an access-control accessory, not a fire alarm component.
What the Mircom TX3-IP-256 does
First, the gateway connects TX3 access-control devices to a TCP/IP network. In addition, it converts RS-485 traffic on the device side into Ethernet traffic on the network side. Therefore, it lets installers scale TX3 systems past the 126-door RS-485 ceiling.
Mounting and wiring
The TX3-IP-256 mounts externally on a single or dual gang box. Furthermore, the RS-485 wiring run can extend up to 1,219.2 m (4,000 ft) total length. Specifically, DIP switches 1 through 6 set the RS-485 network address.
Where it fits
Each Ethernet-connected TX3 device needs its own TX3-IP-256 (or TX3-IP-NP-256) adapter linked over RS-485. As a result, the module is required wherever a TX3 controller, voice-entry panel, or touchscreen joins an IP network. Also, it is the standard companion to TX3-CX-2-A and TX3-CX-2K-A-256 controllers in multi-site deployments.
